Unable to send test mail in SolusVM 2: Connection to tcp://smtp.example.net:465 Timed Out

Symptoms

1. Unable to send test mail in SolusVM 2 > Settings > Mail:

   SVM_ERROR: Connection to tcp://smtp.example.net:465 Timed Out

2. With port set to 587 in SolusVM 2 > Settings > Mail > Port test mail can be sent.

Cause

SMTP server used for sending emails does not support port 465.

Resolution

1. Access SolusVM 2 Administrator interface.
2. Set Port to 587 in SolusVM 2 > Settings > Mail.

3. Click Save.
