IP Stealing protection does not work on SolusVM XEN node

Symptoms

  • IP Stealing protection does not work on a XEN node even though the option IP Stealing & ARP Attack is enabled at SolusVM > Nodes > Node > Settings: after manually change of IP inside a VPS, it is still available through the network.

  • File /usr/local/solusvm/data/config.ini on the XEN node contains the following option:

    # grep 'no_vif_prefix' /usr/local/solusvm/data/config.ini
    no_vif_prefix = true

Cause

This is a SolusVM bug SVM-1470 which was fixed in SolusVM version 1.21.04.

Resolution

Update to the latest stable version.

If the update is not the option use the following workaround:

Workaround

  1. Connect to the XEN node over SSH.

  2. Open file /usr/local/solusvm/data/config.ini with a text editor.

  3. Comment the option "no_vif_prefix = true".

  4. Reboot the Virtual Server in Virtual Servers > Reboot next to the affected VPS.
