Unable to start KVM VPS in SolusVM: unsupported configuration: CPU topology doesn't match maximum vcpu count

Symptoms 

  • Unable to start KVM VPS with CPU Topology enabled in SolusVM > Virtual Servers >VPS - VPS stays offline.
  • When rebooting VPS with debug at SolusVM > Virtual Servers > List Virtual Servers > VPS > Reboot(Debug) the following error is displayed:

    SVM_ERROR: virsh define /home/kvm/kvm101/kvm101.xml
    error: Failed to define domain from /home/kvm/kvm101/kvm101.xml
    error: unsupported configuration: CPU topology doesn't match maximum vcpu count

Cause

Value of (sockets*core * thread) is not equal to vCPUs allocated to VPS.

Resolution

  1. Login to SolusVM admin panel.
  2. Open SolusVM > Virtual Servers > VPS > Settings section > CPU tab
  3. Adjust cores and threads value to reflect the number of vCPUs and click Save:

  4. Reboot the VPS SolusVM > Virtual Servers > VPS >Reboot
