Question

How to configure thin-provisioned raw disks for storage for SolusVM KVM slave?

Answer

Warning: This feature has the following limitations - migration and AutoFTP Backup with raw disks do not work. Enable this feature at your own risk.

  1. Connect to a slave server over SSH.

  2. Create the directory for disks:

    # mkdir /vmdata && chown solusvm.solusvm /vmdata && touch /usr/local/solusvm/data/.disk_image_storage

  3. Create a file solusvm which will be used as a volume group for Slave node:

    # touch /dev/solusvm

  4. Login to SolusVM administrator interface.

  5. Open SolusVM > Node > Edit Node for the KVM node.

  6. Set solusvm in VG (Logical Volume Group) field.

  7. Click on Update Node.
