Symptoms 

  • Fail to create a KVM VPS with a template in SolusVM - VPS is online but VNC console displays an error:

    CONFIG_TEXT: No bootable device

  • The following error can be found in the VPS build log at SolusVM > Virtual Servers > VPS > Build log:

    CONFIG_TEXT: qemu-img: /tmp/libguestfsqbwIkD/overlay2.qcow2: Could not open '/var/tmp/.guestfs-0/appliance.d/root': No such file or directory
    Could not open backing image to determine size.
    libguestfs: error: qemu-img: /tmp/libguestfsqbwIkD/overlay2.qcow2: qemu-img exited with error status 1, see debug messages above
    libguestfs: trace: disk_create = -1 (error)
    libguestfs: clear_socket_create_context: setsockcreatecon failed: NULL: Invalid argument [you can ignore this message if you are not using SELinux + sVirt]

Cause

libguestfs packages are corrupted on the slave node.

Resolution

  1. Connect to the slave KVM node via SSH
  2. Re-install libguestfs packages.
