Cannot create Xen virtual server: xc_dom_boot_mem_init: can't allocate low memory for domain: Out of memory

Symptoms 

  • Fail to boot a new Xen virtual server - it stays offline.
  • When trying to start VPS manually on the node directly there is an error:

    CONFIG_TEXT: xc: error: panic: xc_dom_boot.c:141: xc_dom_boot_mem_init: can't allocate low memory for domain: Out of memory

Cause

Not enough memory on Xen Slave node:

xl info | grep memory
total_memory : 98191
free_memory : 12

Resolution

Contact Data Center in order to increase memory on Xen node.
