Unable to create KVM VPS in SolusVM: error: Cannot access storage file '/dev/KVM/kvm101_img': No such file or directory

Symptoms 

  • Unable to create KVM VPS in SolusVM - it stays offline
  • Upon pushing the Reboot (Debug) button at the page SolusVM > Virtual Servers the following error occurs:

    SVM_ERROR: Domain kvm101 has been undefined
    Domain kvm101 defined from /home/kvm/kvm101/kvm101.xml
    Domain kvm101 marked as autostarted
    error: Failed to create domain from /home/kvm/kvm101/kvm101.xml
    error: Cannot access storage file '/dev/solusvm/kvm101_img': No such file or directory

Cause

The wrong volume group name of the Slave Node where the VPS is hosted mentioned in LV Group

Resolution

  1. Log in to the SolusVM interface
  2. Navigate to SolusVM > Nodes > the_effected_node > edit_button.PNG (edit)
  3. Set the exact volumegroup name at the LV Group field

  4. Save the settings and start the VPS 

    Note: the actual Volume Group name can be seen with the following command on the Slave node

    # vgs
