NoVNC does not work in SolusVM: code: 1011, reason: Failed to connect to downstream server

Symptoms

  • NoVNC does not work in SolusVM with the following error:

    SVM_ERROR: Failed to connect to server (code: 1011, reason: Failed to connect to downstream server).

  • Master is unable to reach the Slave on port 5901:

    # telnet 203.0.113.2 5901
    Trying 203.0.113.2 ...
    telnet: connect to address 203.0.113.2 : Connection refused

Cause

There is a firewall configured on the Slave server that refuses the connection to ports 5901-5199 that are required for noVNC.

Resolution

  1. Log in to the Slave Node via SSH
  2. Open the ports 5901-5199
