Symptoms

Unable to start a VPS with the below error in SolusIO > Tasks:

SVM_ERROR: failed to start VM "4e6fbf0f-b0f9-4e74-b940-3aec4f3dec4a": internal error: Failed to start QEMU binary /usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64 for probing: qemu-system-x86_64: cannot create PID file: Failed to write pid file

Cause

No free space on main partition of SolusIO compute resource:

# df -Th /
/dev/md2 ext4 800G 800G 0 100% /

Resolution

Log in via SSH to the compute resource where the affected VPS is hosted
Free up space on the main partition of the server.
