OpenVZ VPS is Offline in SolusVM: Address already in use

Symptoms 

  • OpenVZ VPS is Offline in SolusVM.
  • While manual starting the VPS on the OpenVZ Node there is an error:

    # vzctl start 101
    ...
    Unable to add ip 203.0.113.2: Address already in use

Cause

An incorrect IP assignment - the following command on OpenVZ Node shows that another VPS is using the same IP address:

# vzlist -a | grep 203.0.113.2
CTID NPROC STATUS CFG_IP_ADDR HOSTNAME
101 21 stopped 203.0.113.2 one.example.com
102 47 running 203.0.113.2 two.example.com

Resolution

  1. Log in to the SolusVM interface.
  2. Change the IP address of one of the VPSs.
